Room with a view
The artist Letizia Werth is fascinated by what lies beyond the visible in the spiritual and mental realm of humans. Pursued by the idea that history and genesis is stored in feelings and inner spaces, the visualization of an intermediate realm, where light merges into shadow, science meets myth, becomes the focus of her drawings on canvas and paper. In the series Talking Rooms, she deals with the living and working spaces of Doctor Freud in Vienna. We often think of rooms as places of memory, and in these drawings rooms become projections and offer space for imagination, perhaps making the unconscious visible. The ink paintings Pink Nights are depictions of landscapes, night pictures that are reminiscent of bold, faded prints due to the monochrome use of the color magenta. The works deal with the fluid transitions between reality and emotional landscape and explore the dynamics of time, space and memory.
